Leicester City beats Newcastle United

RafaBenitez_1stmath_nufc
Rafa Benítez lost his first match being the coach of Newcastle United. Well, his team was defeated with a result 1-0. Leicester City was the opponent. I don't think it was a big loss because Leicester is at the top of the table while Newcastle may go down to first division. People could have expected more goals from Leicester but Newcastle could have drawn the game.

Newcastle United still has time to win more matches and play at the Barclays Premier League next season. As Benítez declared, he has a lot of positives but they must improve.

A Stranger in My Grave
Title: A Stranger in My Grave
Author: Margaret Millar
Synopsis: Young housewife Daisy Harker’s world is upended when a blank spot in her memory and a reoccurring nightmare link her to an unsolved murder and a decades-old conspiracy

Jim and Daisy Harker are a young, well-to-do couple in San Felice, California, and though childless they maintain the sort of domestic happiness that others can only aspire to. But a darkness exists at the outer edges of Daisy’s mind and she has no idea why it’s there. In a series of reoccurring nightmares she wanders a cemetery, eventually finding her own gravestone. According to the dream, December 2nd, 1955 is the day she died.

Street smart but honorable, Stevens Pinata is a man with his own mysteries. An orphan left on a church doorstep as a child, he isn’t even certain of his ethnicity, let alone his goals in life. As a private investigator he works with bail bonds and quick shakedowns. But when a pretty young woman like Daisy Harker comes into his office with a crazy request to “find her lost day” he is intrigued. He is too decent to take advantage of a crazy woman, but Mr. Harker is a wealthy man and who is Pinata to turn down money?

What unfolds is a masterpiece of suspense and one of the books that forever changed the domestic thriller. Millar’s razor sharp prose cuts a masterful plot and slashes at the racism, sexism, and entitlement endemic to an era otherwise celebrated for its prosperity.

Georgia
Title: Georgia
Author: Dawn Tripp
Synopsis: Georgia O’Keeffe, her love affair with photographer Alfred Stieglitz, and her quest to become an independent artist come vividly to life in this sensual and exquisitely written novel, a dazzling departure into historical fiction by the acclaimed novelist Dawn Tripp.

This is not a love story. If it were, we would have the same story. But he has his, and I have mine.

In 1916, Georgia O’Keeffe is a young, unknown art teacher when she travels to New York to meet Stieglitz, the famed photographer and art dealer, who has discovered O’Keeffe’s work and exhibits it in his gallery. Their connection is instantaneous. O’Keeffe is quickly drawn into Stieglitz’s sophisticated world, becoming his mistress, protégé, and muse, as their attraction deepens into an intense and tempestuous relationship and his photographs of her, both clothed and nude, create a sensation.

Yet as her own creative force develops, Georgia begins to push back against what critics and others are saying about her and her art. And soon she must make difficult choices to live a life she believes in.

A breathtaking work of the imagination, Georgia is the story of a passionate young woman, her search for love and artistic freedom, the sacrifices she will face, and the bold vision that will make her a legend.
Washington’s Circle
Title: Washington’s Circle
Authors: David S. Heidler and Jeanne T. Heidler
Synopsis: History enthusiasts and admirers of Team of Rivals will rejoice in this magisterial account of the extraordinary Americans who served the nation’s first chief executive: Together, they created the presidency for a country disgusted by crowns and the people who would wear them.

In 1789, as George Washington became the first president of the United States, the world was all but certain that the American experiment in liberty and representative government would founder. More than a few Americans feared that the world was right. In Washington’s Circle, we see how Washington and his trusted advisers, close friends, and devoted family defied the doomsayers to lay the foundation for an enduring constitutional republic. This is a fresh look at an aloof man whose service in the Revolutionary War had already earned him the acclaim of fellow citizens. Washington was easy to revere, if difficult to know.

In Europe’s Shadow
Title: In Europe’s Shadow
Author: Robert D. Kaplan
Synopsis: From the New York Times bestselling author Robert D. Kaplan, named one of the world’s Top 100 Global Thinkers by Foreign Policy magazine, comes a riveting journey through one of Europe’s frontier countries—and a potent examination of the forces that will determine Europe’s fate in the postmodern age.

Robert Kaplan first visited Romania in the 1970s, when he was a young journalist and the country was a bleak Communist backwater. It was one of the darkest corners of Europe, but few Westerners were paying attention. What ensued was a lifelong obsession with a critical, often overlooked country—a country that, today, is key to understanding the current threat that Russia poses to Europe. In Europe’s Shadow is a vivid blend of memoir, travelogue, journalism, and history, a masterly work thirty years in the making—the story of a journalist coming of age, and a country struggling to do the same. Through the lens of one country, Kaplan examines larger questions of geography, imperialism, the role of fate in international relations, the Cold War, the Holocaust, and more.

February Song by Josh Groban

Where has that old friend gone?
Lost in a February song
Tell him it won't be long
'Til he opens his eyes, opens his eyes

Where is that simple day
Before colors broke into shades?
And how did I ever fade
Into this life, into this life?

And I never want to let you down
Forgive me if I slip away
When all that I've known is lost and found
I promise you, I, I'll come back to you one day

Morning is waking up
And sometimes it's more than just enough
When all that you need to love
Is in front of your eyes
It's in front of your eyes

And I never want to let you down
Forgive me if I slip away
Sometimes it's hard to find the ground
'Cause I keep on falling as I try
To get away from this crazy world

And I never want to let you down
Forgive me if I slip away
When all that I've known is lost and found
I promise you, I, I'll come back to you one day

Where has that old friend gone?
Lost in a February song
Tell him it won't be long
'Til he opens his eyes, opens his eyes

Song Father to Son by Phil Collins

Somewhere down the road, you're gonna find a place
It seems so far, but it never is
You won't need to stay, but you might lose
your strength on the way

Sometimes you may feel you're the only one
'Cause all the things you thought were safe,
Now they're gone
But you won't be alone, I'll be here to carry you along
Watching you 'til all your work is done

And when you find your heart, you'd better run with it
'Cause when she comes along, she could be breaking it
No, there's nothing wrong, you're learning to be strong
Don't look back
She may soon be gone, so don't look back
She's not the only one, remember that

If your heart is beating fast, then you know she's right
If you don't know what to say, well, that's all right
You don't know what to do?
Remember she is just as scared as you

Don't be shy, even when it hurts to say
Remember, you're gonna get hurt someday, anyway
Then you must lift your head, keep it there
Remember what I said
I'll always be with you don't forget
Just look over your shoulder I'll be there.

If you look behind you, I will be there.
